West Valley High School’s DECA Chapter was successful in raising money for Second Harvest’s “Tackle Hunger” fundraiser. “Tackle Hunger” is a contest that high schools can participate in to raise money for Second Harvest. The contest takes place in the fall to prepare for the holiday season. The WVHS DECA chapter collected $3,200 dollars, surpassing their goal of $3,000. The chapter also donated about 16,000 meals for those in need in our community. The students worked hard to raise money by collecting in the community, and at their DECA store. Other activities included selling Halloween candy-grams, selling cookies to donate the proceeds, and creating promotions during the “Tackle Hunger” football game at the end of October. In the West Valley School District, students, parents, staff, community members and business partners donated to help us achieve this goal. West Valley’s DECA Chapter members would like to give a big thanks to everyone who supported our efforts.
